The biggest fashion moments of 2016

Below, we've collected a few of the moments during 2016 that we think had the biggest impact on the fashion industry. Do you disagree, or think we've forgotten a particularly important moment? Why not get in touch via Facebook or Twitter to let us know?

Jaden Smith for Louis Vuitton

Fashion is a huge amount of fun, and we believe there should be more gender neutrality in the fashion world. That’s why it was fantastic to see Jaden Smith take part in Louis Vuitton’s Series 4 womenswear campaign alongside female models, Sarah Brannon, Jean Campbell, and Rianne Van Rompae.

We can only hope that gender barriers continue to be demolished in 2017.

Chanel in Cuba

As a result of a change to Cuba’s travel sanctions this year, Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel decided to make the most of this change and hosted the brand’s Cruise 2017 collection.

The brand took a flock of 700 fashion fans and models to show off the collection in a runway show along the Paseo del Prado in Havana.

Cuban culture was also featured in the historic event.

Rihanna at Paris Fashion Week

Music’s ultimate Bad Girl showed off her fashion flair by bringing her second Puma collection to Paris for Paris Fashion Week. The collection was in keeping with the location for a fusion of Marie Antoinette and gym wear clothing. Lovers of Puma clothing, and us here at Fiore, were head over heels with the show!

Hillary Clinton’s Pantsuit Nation

I don’t think anyone will be able to forget how tumultuous this year’s US elections were, but with Hillary Clinton in the news on a daily basis we were able to see just how well she managed to rock the pantsuit. This was especially true during the three debates in which she was a red, white and blue pantsuit, demonstrating just how fashionable and patriotic she was, and how to pull the patriotic look off without looking ‘cheesy’.

Goodbye Bowie and Prince

There have been so many celebrity deaths this year that we’ve almost lost count, but it was the loss of David Bowie and Prince that arguably had the biggest impact on the fashion industry, and lovers of fashion in general.

The world is a better place for both of them having lived in it.

Gigi Hadid wins International Model of the Year

Model Gigi Hadid has had almost as great a year as we have! She continues to be the pinnacle of the fashion world – she participated in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show for the second time, she co-designed a clothing range along with hosting the AMA’s. Of course then, she would finish the year by being awarded the International Model of the Year award.

Good job Gigi, we hope the next 12 months are equally, if not more successful for you!
