Are you feeling a bit bored? Not sure what to do with your free time? If that's the case, why not watch a fashion film and combine your need for entertainment and your passion for fashion?

If you're not sure what film, to watch, we've made a list of our favourite films about the fashion industry, and we've also let you know whether or not the film is on Netflix UK, so you can start watching something at a minute's notice. Enjoy!

(1995, dir. Amy Heckerling, Paramount Pictures)

Available on Netflix UK? Yes

Clueless is the definitive ‘90s fashion film; loosely based on Jane Austen’s novel Emma, the plot follows the life of Cher Horowitz as she navigates high-school life in Beverly Hills. The film is full of bright and bold outfits that most of us wouldn’t dare try and pull off. Over 20 years later and we’re still jealous of Cher’s outfit-picking computer!

Coco Before Chanel

(2009, dir. Anne Fontaine, Warner Bros./Sony Pictures)

Available on Netflix UK? No

This French film follows the early years of Gabrielle Chanel, and her relationship with Arthur Capel, who inspired her and pushed her to continue designing and creating hats. This is a fantastic, unsentimental look at the early years of a household name.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

(2009, dir. P.J. Hogan, Walt Disney Studios)

Available on Netflix UK? No

Based on a series of novels by Sophie Kinsella, this is a perfect film to watch if you feel like you buy a bit too much (although we definitely know it’s hard not to be tempted by great offers and beautiful products!). Rebecca Bloomwood is a shopaholic looking for a journalism job in a fashion magazine, who finds herself working for a savings advice magazine instead.

The Devil Wears Prada

(2006, dir. David Frankel, 20th Century Fox)

Available on Netflix UK? No

From one fashion journalism job to another, The Devil Wears Prada is another film based on a novel. Starring the incredible Meryl Streep, the story portrays the difficulties and cut-throat nature of working for a leading fashion magazine. Some believe Streep’s Miranda Priestly is based on Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. If you haven’t seen this film, watch it; if you have, watch it again!

Dior & I

(2014, dir. Frédéric Tcheng, The Orchard)

Available on Netflix UK? Yes

Offering a behind-the-scenes look at the process of creating a haute couture collection, Dior & I is a vivid documentary about working in a Christian Dior fashion house. The film focuses on the pressure that comes with working for such a big brand name.

Funny Face

(1957, dir. Stanley Donen, Paramount Pictures)

Available on Netflix UK? No

An oldie and a goody, Funny Face stars our favourite fashion icon Audrey Hepburn as a bookseller who is hurtled into the world of runway modelling. Featuring fantastic musical numbers and dance routines, Funny Face is sure to have you tapping your toes and having a little dance party in your living room.

(2014, dir. Albert Maysles, Dogwoof)

Available on Netflix UK? Yes

Iris is a documentary that focuses on eccentric fashion icon Iris Apfel, which is sure to make you question whether or not you’re having enough fun with your fashion style. If Coco Chanel preferred keeping it simple, Iris Apfel is all about wearing everything including the kitchen sink!

The September Issue

(2009, dir R.J. Cutler, Roadside Attractions)

Available on Netflix UK? Yes

People who believe Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada is based on Anna Wintour have clearly watched The September Issue. While this documentary primarily focuses on the creation of Vogue America’s September 2007 issue, it also highlights the tense relationship between Wintour and Grace Coddington, who up until January 2016 was the magazine’s creative director. A must-watch film if you think you can handle the pressures of working in the fashion industry.

Sex and the City

(2008, dir. Michael Patrick King, New Line Cinema/Warner Bros.)

Available on Netflix UK? No

A sequel to the hit TV show, it would be a crime for us not to include the Sex and the City movie! The film follows the lives of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda as they navigate marriage and their sex lives. Not to be missed by fans of the show (there’s also a sequel if you’re hungry for more!).

(2001, dir. Ben Stiller, Paramount Pictures)

Available on Netflix UK? Yes

A satire on the fashion industry, Zoolander is a laugh-out-loud film (something that we can’t really say for many of the films on this list). It is completely absurd, and takes the weirdest parts of the industry, turning the ridiculousness up to 10. This is a film worth watching so you can see the sequel which was recently released in cinemas.

There we have it, plenty of films for you to settle down to with a big bag of popcorn.
