Abergavenny Museum and Abergavenny Castle

Abergavenny Museum by Roger Davies on GeographIf you’re looking to learn more about the history of Abergavenny, it would be difficult to find somewhere better suited than the Abergavenny Museum! With its numerous permanent displays documenting the history of the market town from Neolithic times to the present day, and its unique location within the grounds of a ‘ruined’ Norman Castle, the Museum offers up the tempting opportunity to squeeze in a visit to two attractions during one of your days off.

Both the museum and Abergavenny Castle are considered one of Abergavenny’s best activities for those wanting to venture away from the centre of town, so why not take a bag big enough to fit lunch for everyone, and enjoy a picnic on the castle grounds?

National Garden Scheme Open Days: Bordervale Plants

Found in the village of Ystradown, the Bordervale Plants nursery specialises in a variety of unusual garden plants, and can be found within its own mature oak woodland valley, which was originally planted to enhance the existing plant life and natural flora.

Open between 10am and 5pm this bank holiday Monday, the nursery offers expert advice on garden design and plants, so if you want to learn the difference between a perennial and a biennial plant, make sure to attend!

You can find directions to the garden as well as other helpful information on the Bordervale Plants website.
